44th Bomb
Squadron
Radar Bombardier
Target: Kawasaki
June 26, 1945
Lt. Buechler and crew #22
“Nippon Nipper III”
This was a day precision
mission, the target was an aircraft plant. The Bombardier did an excellent job
putting the bombs in the front door stringing the bombs clear through the back
of the building. We had P-51’s from Iwo Jima, they did an excellent job of
taking care of the enemy planes. They were kept busy all day shooting the
planes as it seemed the Japanese sent out all the Air Force they had. Flak was
moderate.
