This was an exciting mission for me as it was my first mission. It was a Primary Visual Target and Primary Radar Target mission. We had P-51 fighter escorts from Iwo Jima. It was exciting to see the Mainland of Japan for the first time. We dropped the bombs because this was a daylight and the target was clearly visual. Had a few fighters make passes at us, but they didn’t come close enough for our gunners to pour lead into them. Results of the mission was excellent. Flak was light.
